The french knot is a wonderfully versatile, decorative embroidery stitch. It involves making stitches in the form of small knotted dots, which can be used as a filler, pattern, or as the center of flowers.

Satin stitch is one of the most common filler stitches. It’s used to fill in any shape with an area of flat, smooth and closely spaced stitches. Each stitch lays parallel to the last, extending across the entire length or width of the shape.

The split stitch is a basic embroidery stitch that can be used to outline an image, or can be used as a filler if you put the lines closer to each other. To create this thicker line of stitching, stab the previous stitch from below to create a continuous line.
